Happy Thanksgiving From a Vancouver Based Chalkboard Artist! It’s Canadian Thanksgiving this weekend and we have a lot to be thankful for. Here is the shortlist:
- Here at Chalk It Up Signs, we are grateful every day for the gorgeous place we live. It is so special to be surrounded by ocean, forests and mountains. It influences the work we do, the way we work, our relationship to our community and our relationship to the planet. Living on the west coast of Canada feels like a tremendous gift to us. It’s not for everyone, but it’s for us.
- CIUS is a family owned and operated business. Dave and Melanie work together, raise our daughter together, recreate together and we still really like each other! Our daughter understands our business and hopefully one day will colour with me when she reaches legal age to draw a paycheque. Our family honours the entrepreneurial spirit. Individually, we thrive on the freedom and challenge of being self employed. Subsequently, together, we rock the whole Vancouver based chalkboard artist scene. We feel incredibly lucky to be able to work together so successfully.
- Dave and Melanie are both creatives. Therefore, CIUS feeds so many of our artistic desires and that is a true gift. Melanie designs and colours and Dave makes the amazing frames. We have both worked in cubicles and served some businesses very well as employees. In the end though, we are happiest making things on our own terms.
- Chalkboard signs are incredibly fun to make. Vancouver based chalkboard artist is a great job title but only if you have chalkboards to colour. CIUS is a thriving chalkboard business and colouring is fun. We create so many varied and unique chalkboards for a breathtakingly wide range businesses (cafes, pubs, restaurants, coffee shops, ice cream parlours, dog grooming shops, barbershops, beauty salons, bookstores, cosmetic companies, fitness gyms, yoga studios, and the list goes on…). This leads me to our last point of gratitude:
- We have the best customers! Gratitude to the folks who order their chalkboards from us. Even though I am a Vancouver based Chalkboard Artist, our signs go all over Canada, the United States and the world. There are so many good folks out in the world and we have been blessed to get to know so many of them. We work hard to create chalkboards that make our customers happy and the feedback we get is mission accomplished.
